This summer, I plan to hike around 700 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail. Why? Because I can, that’s why. There are some of us who like to do this hiking thing. I am sure that each hiker has his or her own reasons. For me, it’s about getting somewhere far away where the stuff in my head becomes secondary. Where the most important things are the thud of my feet on the dirt trail, the whoosh of the wind in the tops of the trees and the heat of the sun on my head. It’s about being alone in my own head. On the trail, alone, in the wild is about the only place that happens. So I hike.
